In October 17, I got invited to the 50th birthday celebration and auction of Chalmar Beef farm and abattoir in Bapsfontein, Gauteng. It was my first time going to an abattoir and participate in an auction.
This family business has started growing cattle since 1969. Restaurant such as Marble, the Grill, Pachas and many more are making amazing dishes supplied from Chalmar Beef . We were treated with an amazing lunch with a variety of mouth watering meats and a beautifully presented desert table. Everybody was talking about the Lamb chops. They tasted DIVINE WOW, I still talk about that lamb with the same energy till today.
After the lunch, the auction started and it was interesting to see the guests lifting their cards one after the other hoping to get a certain meat before someone else does. I enjoyed every single moment of it.
The media goodies bag was filled with what you see on the picture below. inside the Chalmar farm kitchen there were step by step recipes of different dishes which I will be trying and up my cooking skills with.
Chalmar Beef also provides daily meals for free to a non profit organisation called Little Eden that provide life-long care to 300 children and adults with profound intellectual disability in two custom designed residential facilities: in Edenvale, and in Bapsfontein.
Chalmar Beef has it own shop at the farm and they are now delivering their products anywhere in Gauteng. The braai season has started already there is no more excuses for not eating quality meats at your next gathering. visit their website at Chalmarbeef.co.za
