In South Africa, every year in May the non-profit organisation called Reach for A Dream organizes a slipper day to rise awareness and realize dreams of children aged between 3 to 18 years old who are fighting life threatening illnesses. This day was unfamiliar to me ( I have only been living in South Africa for few years now) until I met some amazing souls.
One of my goal at the beginning of the year was to be part of something which was going to be bigger than me, something which will make a difference in people’s lives. After joining the Soul Spark Movement which is a movement started by Kovini Moodley, the first initiative was to create awareness for this amazing organization. After doing my research, I realized how many dreams they have realized, how many kids saw their dreams come true through Reach for A Dream.
We believe in the power of dreams; we encourage children to use their dreams to fight life-threatening illnesses and we try, as far as possible, to make these dreams come true.
I have met amazing ladies who also wanted to be part of something great, not doing it because it is what attract followers and likes on social media but being part of the Soul Spark Movement because deep down it is who we are, it is what sparks our souls. By being ourselves and engaging with such great initiative, we will use our voices and influence for the right causes.
Support Reach for a dream by buying your wristband and the cool slippers online or at your closest shops: Pick N Pay, Dis-chem or Wimpy. The slipper day will take place on Friday 10 of May 2019. Wherever you are be an hero, wear your wristband and slippers at school, at work, while doing your shopping to support this amazing cause.
Remember: whatever you want to get yourself into, make sure it is aligned with who you really are and what you stand for. Don’t compromise and be your authentic self.
Are you Being Yourself?
Till next time
Be yourself
Thank you for reminding me about this great initiative.
