A letter to Mum and Dad

Mum and Dad had been the first persons to introduce me to the world. I would believe every single thing they told me without questioning it. In my teens I felt that I knew lot more that them and I started questioning a number of things they told me when I was younger. Now that I am in twenties, oh yes, I am realizing how much I love, respect, admire and appreciate my parents. I have also realized how much I owe you mum and dad.

A letter to Mum and Dad

To mum

Thank you for being such an amazing woman, wife and mother. You have always kept our family together and made sure we taste your new recipes every Sundays and ate at the dinner table all of us. I know you have sacrificed a lot even if you don’t share that with me. You have always made me feel loved, appreciated and you have always believed in me and made me feel special in my own way. The woman I am becoming owe you almost everything. You have told me that I should have a relationship with God and pray during good and bad time. Thank you for always being supportive on all level and being there for me whenever I need you. I love you unconditionally and I admire you. I have read that “If I become even half the woman my mother is, I can say I have a good life”. Mum I feel the same. I hope you are proud of the woman I am becoming.

To dad

All the advice and lessons you have taught me were not in vain. You taught me loyalty, hard work, discipline, integrity and perseverance. You have always said that you weren’t born with a golden spoon in your mouth. You have worked hard and sacrifice a lot to give me the perfect life. Growing up I have always had everything I wanted and even more. I can never repay everything you have invested in me. I am proud to be called your daughter and I love you dad.

Parents are human beings too, they will not be around forever. Spend time with them, call them, tell them exactly how you feel, tell them what is in your hearts. Sometimes they may not agree with your plans and projects but tell them anyway. At the end of the day they only want to see you happy. I have read that: ” Sometimes the most amazing and emotional love letter are read at a cemetery”.

For you who have lost your parents already, I can’t imagine how hard and painful it is to move on without them. Hold onto the great memories you have shared together.

What do you want to tell your parents or the people you have raised you and have been with you till today?

Tell them now

Till next Sunday

Be yourself
