Christmas may mean nothing for some or a lot to others. It’s the time of giving gifts, receiving gifts, togetherness or alone time. Everyone has a particular way to celebrate Christmas. For me, Christmas is one of the most if not THE MOST important period of the year. It’s all about spreading love, kindness and putting a smile on people faces especially children.
When I was younger I remember my mum buying me Christmas boxes fill with love of cute stuff and if course sweet and chocolates, it was a privilege back then to be able to afford those boxes. I thought to myself that there are a lot of children out there who might not or never experienced receiving a personalized Christmas gift. That’s how Christmas Love Box came about. I could have never imagined how much a lot of people related to this cause and the unbelievable support we got through out this beautiful journey. The initial target was getting 50 boxes for a orphanage in Joburg but the support was so overwhelming that we had to expand and put a smile on more children’s faces.
We were able to raise funds for 126 boxes that we delivered to tree orphanages in Johannesburg (South Africa) and one hospital in Likasi (DRC). We are thankful for the overwhelming support from private, individuals, anonymous donors as well as various women owned businesses
We visited the Lighthouse Baby Shelter which cares for children from new born to teenagers.
We visited the Door of Hope which had three different branches around Johannesburg and have +- 60 babies in their care
We visited the Miracle Mission Children Home which mostly cares for babies
We visited the Pediatric and Maternity Clinic in Likasi. The experience was overwhelming and we heard stories that made us overly emotional but overall the children were happy even though they spent Christmas day on a hospital bed
Christmas was indeed beautiful. I will never thank everyone enough for the endless support. God bless you all
Till next time
